Welcome to my page dedicated to soundtrack - music from the movies, television, and (hopefully soon) computer games. I hope you'll find it an interesting and useful resource worthy of repeated visits. Unfortunatelly I can't offer any reviews, because I am quite bad at expressing my feelings about why I like something. You won't find great graphics either, because I am no artist.
So what WILL you find here? My goal is to provide information that you can't find elsewhere. The most important part of the site is the list of my CDs. For every one of them you can read basic information (composer, release label...), complete tracklisting including track lengths, my rating (separate rating for music and for soundn quality) etc. Several soundtracks will have my comments or comments from my visitors, ranging from short descriptions of sound quality to full-scale reviews (if someone writes them). In the future, I'd like to add a CDDB server capability (the advantage over the official servers will be the focus on soundtracks and unified format).
Another section that is working at the moment is the links page. I didn't try to list all existing soundtrack pages. My focus was on the pages that I know and like. I want to have the links to all Czech soundtrack resources, but as these are worthless for people who don't read Czech, I will not list them in non-Czech language versions.
Coming soon: I'd like to add a CDDB server, a game soundtracks section, Ebay buying guide and automatic language selection. I will program these as time permits in the order of difficulty. Hopefully they'll be running soon.
Can you help? Of course you can. You could give every CD your rating and not force them to use exclusively mine. You could send me suggestions - what should I add, what should I improve and what to remove completely. I'll read all the suggestions and if I like them, I'll try to implement them.
You might want to leave a few comments about some soundtracks to other visitors. In that case e-mail me for instructions on how to get your own login and password to my page (I don't want to create an automatic engine for that, because I'd like to avoid flame wars and unsuitable language in the notes).
I need a few icons created. If you are good at computer graphics and willing to help me, please e-mail me. It's just a couple of tiny pictures, probbaly quite simple, but I am unable to create them myself :-(. And I need pictures of the composers (because I feel bad about stealing Christian Clemmenson's work) and soundtrack logos - if you can provide them, please e-mail me.
A note to the lawyers and other vermin ;-) : I don't strive for political correctness. When I write "czech", of course I don't mean only things related to Behemia, but to Slovakia and other parts of former Czechoslovakia as well. The same applies to the sexes - when I write "he", I don't want to discriminate female visitors. Please bear with my laziness, there's no bad intent in the discrimination you might feel in my ramblings...
About technical side of the page: This page is written in PHP and uses MySQL for a database engine. I used Edit Plus, the best text editor I know, to create all content of the site. Unfortunatelly this means you'll lose all the advantages of Frontpage-generated HTML code, namely an unreadable source code (although I've tried hard to emulate it ;-)) and bloated size. I hope you won't mind too much...
